CURNOW, Elvira M. "Vera" - Of Davison, age 88, died Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Charter Senior Living of Davison.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Monday, August 14, 2023 and visitation 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2023 until the time of the funeral service at 12 p.m. at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Father Roy Horning officiating.
Dress code is casual, but please wear something bright or neon colored.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2023.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Elvira "Vera" was born in Salina, Kansas on January 5, 1935, the daughter of the late James and Angeline (Dreiling) Carlson. On February 6, 1954, Vera married Cyril Curnow and he preceded her in death in January 2013. Vera graduated from Salina High School. She was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church for over 40 years and the Genesee Star Quilters. She enjoyed quilting, was an avid reader and loved spending time with her family. Vera retired from Citizens Bank after many devoted years.
Surviving are sons, Christopher Curnow (Sheryl Champine) and Tony (Stacey) Curnow both of Davison;
six grandchildren, Nicholas II (Lisa) Curnow of Grand Rapids, Vanessa Curnow of Alpena, Leslie (Jim) Winkler of Allendale, Adam Curnow of Flushing, Colin (Haleigh Siple) Curnow of Davison and Alyssa (Ian) Thomason of Grand Blanc;
eight great-grandchildren;
sister, Mary (Bruce) Jones of Lacrosse, Kansas;
special friend, Annie McCann; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cyril, son, Nicholas Curnow and brother, James (Kay) Carlson.
