Spoor, Joan L. of Flushing, age 91, died Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Ascension Genesys. Funeral services will be 12 noon, Monday, April 11, 2022, at Rossell Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home until the time of the service. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Disabled American Veterans.
Joan was born in Monroe, Michigan on August 4, 1930, the daughter of Edward Thomas and Vivian Mae (Bragg) O’Connor. She married Theodore Spoor in Monroe, Michigan on September 20, 1952. They spent 43 wonderful years together before he passed away on October 7, 1995. Together with her husband, they enjoyed traveling the world during his military career. She loved spending time at their family cabin in Marion, Michigan. Her hobbies included camping, gardening and tending to her flowers. The most import thing to Joan was her family and she enjoyed every chance she had to spend time with them.
Joan is survived by her children, Clayton (Charlene) Spoor, Leane (Robert) Pierce, Jenny (Dave) McArthur, Janell (Curtis) Taljonick; daughter-in-law, Karen Spoor; grandchildren, Colleen Spoor, Devon (Chris) Jones, Troy Taljonick, Ethan Taljonick, Dillon McArthur, Shaun (Mary) Peterson, Adam (Amy) Pierce; great-grandchildren, Shantel, Julianna, Shelby, Lia, Jacob, Michael, Lucy, Lyla, Laney, Jackson; sister, June Cooley-Gray; and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore C. Spoor; son, Claude Spoor; mother and step-father, Vivian O’Connor-Hayden and Olin Hayden; father, Edward O’Connor; and brothers, Lyle and Robert O’Connor.
