Mass of Resurrection will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at St. Charles and Helena Catholic Church in Clio, MI with visitation from 10:00 - 11:00am. Father Ken Coughlin will officiate. Cremation to follow with a burial of ashes in the New Calvary Catholic Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive visitors at the O'Guinn Funeral Home in Clio on Monday, December 11th from 12:00pm - 8:00pm with a rosary being said at 7:00 pm.
Tom was born in Flint, Michigan, on February 15, 1932, the son of Ted and Mary McEvoy Skinner. He resided in Genesee County, making Clio his home for most of his life. He graduated from St. Mary's High School before attending the University of Michigan Flint. Tom also served in the Army and was deployed in Korea from 1953 to 1954. He taught and coached at St. Agnes, Powers, Holy Rosary, and St. Roberts schools for 31 years. After his retirement, he worked at the Flint Auto Auction for 12 years.
Tom was preceded in death by his wives, Mary McGovern Skinner and Doris Sulfaro Skinner; parents Ted and Mary Skinner; sisters Alice Lethbridge, Joan Varga, Dorothy Acheson, son Tom Skinner Jr., and his faithful companion, Goldie. Surviving are his children, Susan Randall, Nancy Sather (Bill), Mary Fran (Brian), Joe Skinner (Debbie), and John Skinner (Lisa), grandchildren Jennifer Deibert, Jeremy Juhl, Thomas Purdy, Laura Castle, Andrew Juhl, Madison Haller, and Caitlin Sather, and ten great-grandchildren as well as Doris’ four children and her grandchildren.
