Gregory Louis Parks Sr., 73 years of age, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, September 4, 2021, at McLaren Hospital.
Greg was born January 15, 1948, in Flint Michigan to the late Ralph and Catherine Parks. He was the fifth born of nine children. Five of which proceeded him in death. He leaves behind brother Gary, brother Vaughn and sister Dawn Rachner.
Greg Sr. is survived by son Adam Anthony Parks and Adam’s mother Pamula, son Gregory Louis Parks Jr. and Greg Jr.’s mother Sylvia Williams, Greg Jr.’s wife Tonya and grandchildren Corbin and Falen.
Greg dedicated his life to public service. He served his country honorably in the Vietnam War with the The 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment ("Blackhorse Regiment”). After the war, Greg continued to protect his community as a police officer for the Flushing City Police Department. Following his retirement after 25 years he again chose to serve the public as Chief of the Park Ranger Department within the Genesee County Parks and Recreation Commission for several years. In both semi and permanent retirement he enjoyed golf as one of his many passions.
Greg leaves behind many beloved family members and friends including his partner in life Janet Young-Black. He was a staple of his community for many years and will be greatly missed. |
