GRAVES, Donald Raymond Sr. – of Burt, age 87, died Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at his residence. A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, January 8, 2021 at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose, Michigan. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Donald was born October 5, 1933 in Montrose, Michigan to the late Clarence and Wanda (Holtz) Graves. He grew up in Montrose and attended Montrose High School. On February 4, 1953 he married Estella Princing and she preceded him in death in 1992. Prior to his retirement in 1988, Donald worked for GM as a Die Setter at the AC Spark Plug with 33 years of service. Donald and his wife owned and operated Grave’s Grocery Store in Burt for 10 years. He enjoyed fishing on Lake Michigan on his boat going out of Manistee and also at Dodge Lake at the family cabin. Donald also liked to go snowmobiling, camping and traveling. He was known to his grandchildren and many others as Popatop.
Surviving are: Children, Ginger Shaw (Larry) , Wanda Felton (Rick), Jane (Mark) Wyczalek, Clifford (Annette) Graves, Audrey (Joe) Wittbrodt; 11 Grandchildren; 13 Great Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great Grandchild; Special Friend, Grace Ratliff; Sisters, Betty (Dave) Hafner, Barbara Patterson; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents; Wive’s, Estella, MaryAnn; Son, Donald Graves Jr.; Grandchildren, Raechel Graves, Chad Wyczalek; Great Granddaughter, Megan Abbott; son-in-law David Shaw; Siblings Marion Wineman, LeRoy Graves, Robert Graves.
