BERRY, JAMES RAY “JIM”- of Flint, age 77, passed away on Saturday, September
5,2026, at his residence.
Funeral service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Grandson Jacob Alvarado officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-8pm Friday, September 11, 2026, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation or American Disable Veterans. Burial in Flint Memorial Park.
Jim was born on March 21, 1949, in Flint, Michigan, the son of the late Wayne and Norine Berry. Jim was US Army veteran and served in the Vietnam War. He was an avid NASCAR fan and concert-goer 121 concerts to be exact. He loved playing cards, gambling and his 1964 Caddy. Jim never missed a party; he was loved by all who met him and he loved everyone. Jim worked at GM for 31 years in various locations, retiring in 2004.
Surviving are his children; James Berry Jr. (Little Jimmy), Jennifer (Daren) Walter, Jasson (Amy) Berry, Wendy (Alex)Alvarado, Denise (Mike) Johns, David Howard, Darrell Howard and Larry Howard; 20 grandchildren and several great children and great-great grandchildren. Best friend and chosen brother Mitch. He was preceded in death by his wife Bev, son Dale, granddaughter Beverly and great granddaughter Aurora.
