TYLER, Geraldine Marie “Geri” – of Montrose, age 89 passed away Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Chesaning Comfort Care, Chesaning. Family will receive friends from 3-7 PM Tuesday December 29, 2020 at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Montrose. Following Covid 19 and government restrictions, only 25 people are allowed in our chapel at one time and masks are required. Private Mass and burial services will take place. Memorial donations may be made to Valley Hospice Care or Carriage Town Missions.
Geraldine “Geri” was born January 3, 1931, in Marion Twp, (Howell), MI., to the late Alvin and Winifred (McMahan) Tyler. At the age of two weeks the family moved to Williamston where she attended Williamston schools. Her Senior year she went to work at the Michigan Tuberculosis Sanatorium in Howell and took classes there and later went back to Williamston and graduated in 1949. In October of 1951 she went to work for Citizens Mutual Insurance Company, Howell where she was a file clerk until her retirement on March 1, 1993. After retiring, she moved from Howell to Montrose where she became active in Mich. Tops 1313 New Lothrop, Montrose Senior Center and Mt. Zion Catholic Community, Flushing Twp. She enjoyed sending out greeting cards; her many lists of get well, birthday, anniversary, Thanksgiving and Christmas cards were enjoyed by so many people. She liked doing crossword puzzles, knitting and watching the Detroit Tigers.
She is preceded in death by her parents and 11 siblings. Surviving are her sisters in law, Elaine Tyler, Priscilla Tyler and Diane Tyler; many nieces, nephews and their families; special friends Peter and Joan Schmit and family, Marge Lounsberry and many other friends in Montrose, Cedarwood Apartments in Flushing, Chesaning Comfort Care and Mt. Zion Catholic Community. A special thanks to the caring staff of Chesaning Comfort Care and Valley Hospice.
