HILL, Bernard “Jimmy” James, Jr. – a resident of Goodrich, MI for 70 years, age 70, passed away unexpectedly in the late morning on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pan Equus Animal Sanctuary-P.E.A.S., 940 Hummer Lake Road, Oxford, MI 48371, www.peasbarn.org, in Jimmy’s memory.
Jimmy was born in Flint, MI on July 17, 1952, son of Marie (Meder) Hill and the late Bernard “Bernie” Hill. He was a graduate of Goodrich High School Class of 1970. Jimmy married the love of his life, Susie Coleman, on June 23, 1979, at Lake Shinanguag where they built and spent 44 years together. He was very devoted to his family and took pride in being a loving son, husband, father, Papa, father-in-law, uncle, brother and friend. Jimmy never missed a family holiday, party, or school event. He loved driving anything that went fast, vacationing, working on projects, watching fireworks, eating out and spending time with his family. Jimmy never let anything slow him down and enjoyed staying busy. He always had a shovel in his hand as working in the yard was one of his favorite pastimes. Jimmy took pride in everything he had and valued all who he had a relationship with. Anyone who knew him knew that he always had a smile on his face and was always willing to offer a helping hand. Jimmy was a kind and loving man with a witty sense of humor who was always there to say something to make you laugh. He was quite the storyteller and always had an audience who would listen. Jimmy was the long-time owner of Grand Blanc Appliance where he met and helped a lot of the members of the community. He was a devoted husband, dedicated father, loving Papa and wonderful son. Jimmy was loved beyond words and will be forever missed.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Susie Hill; daughter, Lisa (Zach) Gillett; son, Joshua (Shannon) Vorhees; 6 grandchildren, Roman (Megan) Vorhees, Angel Hernandez, Gavin Vorhees, Adelynn Vorhees, Jaxon Vorhees and Savannah Gillett; mother, Marie Hill; sister, Karen (David) Speirs; favorite sister-in-law, Sandy Coleman Trinkle; nephew, Christopher (Holly) Speirs; great-niece, Madison Speirs; great-nephew, Jackson Speirs; many other loving family members and good friends.
