FERGUSON, Edmund – Of Swartz Creek, age 89, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 8, 2021 with family by his side.
Memorial visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Due to Covid-19 and government regulations, only 25 people will be allowed in the chapel at one time. Mask, group capacity and distancing guidelines must be practiced.
Private service will be held, Reverend Roger Colby and Pastor Brian West officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grand Blanc United Methodist Church or Brookdale Grand Blanc.
Edmund was born in Flint, Michigan on May 30, 1931.
He was a graduate of Michigan State University in 1952 and retired from General Motors (Fisher Body I) after 34 years.
In his younger years, Ed was very active with the Boy Scouts. He became an Eagle Scout and was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award.
He was a member of the Flint Elks Lodge 222, and an active member of Grand Blanc United Methodist Church.
On August 9, 1952 Ed married the love of his life, Marcia Gillies. They were married for 68 years, and they had three children.
Spending time with his family was the greatest joy. He also loved spending summers at Beaver Lake.
Surviving are wife, Marcia Ferguson;
son, Harold (Karen) Ferguson;
daughter, Sharon (Bill) Mortimer; as well as 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Bruce Ferguson (2019); daughter-in-law, Holly Ferguson (1990); parents, Elziard and Catherine Ferguson; sister-in-law, Darla Lewis.
