Bob was born in Flint, Michigan on January 5, 1936, the son of J. Frederic and Kathryn (Lawrence) Daunt. On March 12, 1977, he married Jeanne Hartson at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Flint.
Bob was a lifetime member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Flint, Michigan until it’s closing in 2020. He was the embodiment of a faithful servant of our Lord and was an active leader and member of numerous religious, community, and professional organizations throughout his life including the Knights of Columbus, the Men’s Club and Parish Council at St. Mike’s, Catholic Charities of Flint, and he proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Bob was an incredibly hard worker, and his charming personality made him a natural salesman. Whether it was insurance, real estate, home improvements, or promotional supplies, he cultivated and maintained a lasting relationship with his clients. His work and his active leadership in the community brought him countless friends and admirers. But his true life’s work, the role he cherished most was being a family man. Bob always put his family’s needs ahead of his own. He was a coach, a chauffeur, a wise counselor about the truly important things in life, and so much more. It would be impossible to adequately sum up his life in mere words.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Jeanne (Hartson); children Joe (Karen), Tim (Leah), Matt (Laurie), Tony, and Courtney; grandchildren Timothie, Madeline, Devin, Lucas, Charles, Delaney, Colie, and Brooke; siblings Mary Butler (Doug), Martha Strong (Bob), Pat (Sue), Pete (Linda), Tom (Kathi), Dan (Martha), Paul (Georgina), Helen Alexander (Mike), and Steve (Lesley); in-laws Patti Daunt and Sue Daunt; honorary brother Mike Owens (Suzie); numerous nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, and cousins; and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his beautiful daughter Nicole; brother Jack and his wife Sue; brother Jim; brother Mike; brother Jerry; and several nieces and nephews taken too soon.
