Markuszewski, Roman, of Flushing, age 98, died Friday, September 18, 2026, at Springvale Assisted Living. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at St. Robert Catholic Church. Fr. Brian Lenz will officiate. Entombment will follow at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, September 21, 2026 at Caterer Family (formerly Rossell) Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church until the time of the Mass at 11 a.m. A Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to St. Robert Catholic Church.
Roman was born in Poland on February 24, 1928, the son of Marcin and Justyma (Szpikule) Markuszewski. He married Barbara Mlynarczykowski in 1962, in Poland before emigrating to the United States in 1963. Roman began his career at Chevy in the Hole, retiring after 27 years in 1993. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening. Roman loved animals, especially cats and birds.
Roman is survived by his wife of 64 years, Barbara; son, Adam and wife Karen Markuszewski; grandson, Kevin Markuszewski; cousin, Theresa Gora; and several nieces and nephews, many of whom are living in Poland. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Josef, Edward, Emil; and sister, Alekandra.
