ST. DENNIS, Thomas James “Tom” – Age 90, formerly of Waterford and Haines City, Florida, died Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Abbey Park.
Private service will be held at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Burial in All Saints Cemetery in Waterford, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Due to Covid-19 and government regulations, only 25 people will be allowed in the chapel at one time. Mask, group capacity and distancing guidelines must be practiced.
Visitation 5- 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A Knights of Columbus Council memorial service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m.
Thomas was born in Pontiac, Michigan on January 17, 1930, the son of the late Henry O. and Irene M. (LeMarbe) St. Dennis.
On October 13, 1951 he married Gertrude E. Wells at St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Pontiac.
He was a former member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church. He was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.
Tom was a devout Catholic, who prayed the rosary daily, attended Mass even while camping, no matter what.
He enjoyed bowling, was an avid golfer, devoted husband, father and grandfather. His family always came first.
Surviving are wife of 69 years, Gertrude;
children, Thomas J. (Julie) St. Dennis, Jr., Mark J. (Theresa) St. Dennis, Linda M. (Fred) Rodriguez and Carolyn M. (Dean) Rothgeb;
11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Patrick J. St. Dennis; his siblings, Delore, David, Henry, Albina, Jerome and JoAnn.
