MATZNICK, Robert Percy – of Lapeer, MI, age 89, was called Home by his Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 22, 2023. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Friday, February 10, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 706 West Flint Street, Davison, MI 48423; Pastor Todd Frusti officiating. Entombment, with Military Honors, immediately following the service in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 10-11 AM Friday, February 10, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, where Bob was a long-time member and served on the Board of Trustees.

Bob was born in Lennon, MI on May 14, 1933, son of the late Herman and Celia (Ashford) Matznick. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955, receiving an Honorable Discharge. Bob served as a Corporal and marksman sharpshooter, in charge of main battle tanks. He was a Life Member of Fenton VFW Post #3243. Bob married Beatrice “Bea” Colgan on July 24, 1982 in Davison, MI and she preceded him in death on November 6, 2008. A member of Union Local 598, Bob retired from Flint Bus and Truck after 36 years of employment. He wholeheartedly supported the Red Cross Blood Drives and was honored as a donor. Bob was a people-person, always ready to lend a helping hand. Over the years, he was a foster parent to many children. An avid outdoorsman, Bob will be remembered for his hunting and fishing expertise as well as his gardening and farming skills.

Bob is survived by 3 children, Janice Prince of Florida, Dawn Brinkley of Kentucky and Robert Matznick of Florida; step-daughter, Vickey (Terry) Manick of Montrose; 4 grandchildren, Joshua DeSario, David Prince both of Florida, Cody and Hayleigh Brinkley; 2 step-grandsons, Chad and Chris; 7 siblings, Esther (Walter) Durgin, Barbara Parcher, Rosie Humble, Celia Ferich, Ilene Hesse, John Matznick and Butch (Jenelle) Matznick; many nieces, nephews, other loving family members and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Celia Matznick; his wife, Beatrice Matznick; 10 siblings, Charles Matznick, Ernest Matznick, Arthur (Bonnie) Matznick, Herman Matznick, Jr., Ivah (Otto) Kutch, Mollie (Paul) Findley, Ronald (Evelyn) Matznick, Jerry (Lois) Matznick, Kenneth (Margaret) Matznick and Arlene (Kenneth) Anderson; 4 brothers-in-law, David Humble, Mike Ferich, Ronald Hesse and John Parcher.

The family wishes to express deep appreciation to the dear close family of Sue Entrekin, George (ViAnne) Entrekin and their family devotions to Bob’s close, family personal friendship over the years.
