NAGAYDA, Andrew “Andy” – of Davison, Michigan, age 95, passed away on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at The Cottage of Davison.
Cremation has taken place. A time to remember Andy and visit with his family will be on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, from 1-4 PM, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, Michigan.
Andrew was born in Flint, Michigan on October 12, 1927, to Andrew and Mary (Belovescik) Nagayda. He was a lifelong resident of the Flint/Davison area. Andrew married the love of his life, Shirley Jean Sherman, on February 1, 1947. She preceded him in death on December 2, 2002. He was a deeply devoted husband and a wonderful and generous father and grandfather, affectionately known as “Grandpa Candy”. Andy was employed at Gracelawn Flowers for 25 years and retired from Buick Motor Division after 25 years.
In October for Andy's 95th birthday, a party was held in his honor with a nephew, numerous nieces, and his neighbors in attendance as they helped our family celebrate this milestone.
He is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, David A. and Janet Nagayda and Mark and Debbie Nagayda; 4 grandchildren, Carrie, David M., Aaron and Robin; 5 great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Emmanuel, Sunny, Samuel and Joseph; many nieces, nephews and special neighbors, Cathy, Dave and Sue.
In addition to his parents and wife, Andy was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Judith Borah, Helen Brownell, Margaret Kielian and Ann Farlow and brother, John Nagayda.
Our thanks to the ER and Cardiac ICU staff at Hurley and the Cottage of Davison and McLaren Hospice for the wonderful care in Andy's final days.
