LaFAVE, Donald John – of Clio, MI, age 76, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2025. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held on a later date.
Don was born in Flint, MI on July 11, 1948, son of the late Calvin and Jessie (Kiser) LaFave. He was a man who found joy in life’s simple pleasures and shared that joy generously with everyone around him. Don worked at General Motors for 30 years, where he was known for his dedication, strong work ethic, and camaraderie with his colleagues. Beyond his career, Don had a deep love for the outdoors and could often be found pitching horseshoes with friends and family, a pastime that brought him great happiness. A true music enthusiast, Don had a lifelong love for the Blues, a genre that mirrored his soulful spirit. At home, he found comfort and companionship in his cherished dogs, Roxie and Mr. Rocky, who were never far from his side and always held a special place in his heart. On May 22, 1993, Don married the love of his life, Connie Eckert. Together, they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and shared memories that will be treasured forever. Don will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His easygoing nature, generous heart, and genuine spirit will live on in the lives he touched.
Don is survived by his wife, Connie LaFave; daughter-in-law, Tammy LaFave; 2 grandchildren, Raymond (Michelle) LaFave and Jordan LaFave; 3 great-grandchildren, Ryan LaFave, Blake LaFave and Logan LaFave; 6 siblings, Larry LaFave, Dannie (Kim) LaFave, Nancy (Bob) Mudge, Darlene (Mike) Thompson, Janice (Dan) Bailey and Janet Morgan; 2 brothers-in-law, Gary (Kathy) Eckert and Drake Eckert; 4 sisters-in-law, Kay (Mike) Gillis, Jane Hamilton, Pam (Art) Reyes and Chris (Joe) Nau; 2 canine companions, Roxie and Mr. Rocky; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin and Jessie LaFave; 2 children, Raymond LaFave and Debra LaFave; parents-in-law, Matthew and Phyllis Eckert; 3 brothers-in-law, Larry Eckert, Tom Morgan and William Bryant; Quaker parrot, Buster; 5 canine companions, Coco, JoJo, Cagney, Lacey and Chloe.
