Sharon (Handy) Coger of Lapeer, age 75, died Friday September 23, 2022 at Ascension-Genesys Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 3:00 pm Tuesday September 27, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 404 Dayton St. Davison, Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski, Celebrant with burial to follow in St. John Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 2-6 pm Monday at the funeral home. Sharon will lie in state from 2:00 pm Tuesday until time of services at the church. Those desiring may make contributions in Sharon’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Catholic Christian Services.
Sharon was born in Flint, Michigan on October 15, 1946 the daughter of Troy and Zelma (Zwerdorf) Handy and has resided in Lapeer County since 1979. She was a graduate of Flint Central High School Class of 1964. She was joined in marriage to Patrick Coger on October 26, 1967. Sharon loved helping people, spending many years in Home Health Care in Lapeer County, volunteering for Christian Services and was active member at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Sharon loved spending time with her grandchildren and devoted lots of time to her special son Tony.
She leaves her husband Patrick, sons: Curtis Coger and Tiffany, and Tony Coger. She also leaves her loving grandchildren Jada, Autumn, Olivia and was looking forward to becoming a great grandmother. Surviving also is brothers: Troy Handy, Donald and wife Stella Handy, sisters: Juanita Slater, Chris Handy, and Rebecca and husband Steve Weiler.
