BASSETT, William Franklin - Age 88, of Swartz Creek, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020. Funeral service will take place 11 AM, Friday, December 18, 2020 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Visitation will take place from 12 PM to 4 PM and 6 PM to 8 PM on Thursday and again from 10 AM until time of service on Friday. Those desiring may make contributions to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
William was born on July 17, 1932 in Sault Ste Marie, the son of Frank and Delia (Jones) Bassett. He served in the United States Army until his discharge in 1954. William worked for GM Chevrolet V-8 Engine for 32 years before his retirement. He and Donna Lee were united in marriage on October 28, 2011 in Swartz Creek. William was a member of the Fenton Masonic Lodge, the Elf Khurafeh Shriners and the Shiners Oriental Band. In his free time he enjoyed making martinis and telling jokes.
He is survived by his loving wife, Donna Bassett; children, Melodie (Ervin) Barrett, Meradith (Matthew) Fithian and Gary (Brooke) Powell; 6 grandchildren, Mandi, Shauna, Tasha, Tara, William and Luke; and 10 great-grandchildren, Avery, Mason, Keegan, Nash, Wyatt, Seth, Olivia, Cece, Aubree and Kira.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Delia Bassett; and 2 sisters, Mairiam and Betty, and his first wife, Shelva. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. |
