Meek, Dennis – of Clio, age 75, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Hurley Medical Center. Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place. A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio from 1PM until 8PM.
Dennis was born July 26, 1949, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Lloyd and Theodora (Quillen) Meek. He graduated from Flint Central and dedicated much of his life to honing his skills as a carpenter, where he became known as a Jack of All Trades. On August 25, 1973, Dennis married the love of his life, Galynn Skank. Together, they built a beautiful family. Family was his world, and he showered those he loved with unwavering support and encouragement. His strength of character was a source of inspiration, and he always made time to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He loved reminiscing about the good old days in Flint, sharing memories that endeared him to friends and family alike. Dennis proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, where he was stationed in Germany as an airborne paratrooper, completing an impressive 60 jumps during his service. He carried the values of teamwork and perseverance throughout his life, embracing every challenge with a smile. Dennis enjoyed golfing, bowling, spending time outdoors, and hunting. Known for his incredible whistling talent, Dennis could effortlessly whistle along to songs and mimic the sweet sounds of bird chirps, captivating those who were lucky enough to hear him. He had an insatiable curiosity and a wealth of knowledge, consistently sharing his insights with those around him. Dennis will be remembered not just for his accomplishments, but for the joy he brought into the lives of others. He impacted everyone he met and will be profoundly missed.
Surviving are: Wife of 51 years, Galynn Meek; Daughters: Kimberly (Patrick) Ward and Tina (Thad) Simmonds; Grandchildren: Shaddon (Mia) Simmonds, Jori Simmonds, Clarissa Simmonds, Neena (Jordan) Tafel, Noelle Ward, and Norinne Ward; Great Grandchildren: Harlow Simmonds, Sutton Simmonds, Olsen Tafel, Kiley Hazlewood, Jackson Hazlewood; Siblings: Diane (Terry) Thompson and Dino (Brenda) Meek; Along with many good friends. He is preceded in passing by his grandson, Noah Ward; Brothers: David, Danny, Donnie and Doug Meek.
