Amos Ray Arender, age 86, of Perry, Michigan, passed away on September 13, 2026. A funeral service to honor and celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, September 21, 2026, at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, 214 S. Main Street, Perry, MI 48872. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 PM until the time of the service.
He was born on December 18, 1939, in Cash, Arkansas, to his parents Claude Arender and Velma Arender (Meeker).
He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. After his time in the service, he worked for many years as a machine repairman at General Motors. He took pride in doing his job well and providing for those he loved.
Amos was a Christian man whose faith remained an important part of his life. One of the verses that reflected his heart was John 3:16, a Scripture that speaks of hope and everlasting life.
Family was important to Amos, and he treasured the time he shared with those closest to him. He is survived by his children, Tara (Don) Dunavan and Scotty Arender; his siblings, Margie Diggs, Craiton Arender, Kater (Mary) Arender, Viola (Randall) Crowell, Pam McNamara, and Jerry Arender; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him great joy and pride.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Viola Arender (Jobe); his son, Timothy Arender; his grandson, Adam Arender; his parents, Claude Arender and Velma Arender (Meeker); his sister, Shirley Redwine; and his brothers, Frank Arender and Claude Arender Jr.
Though his earthly journey has ended, Amos's memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. His family and friends will continue to cherish the laughter, kindness, and warmth he shared so freely. May he rest in the peace of God and may those who grieve his loss be strengthened by faith and by the many beautiful memories they shared.
