SHERWOOD, Sandra Marie (Douglas) – of Davison, MI, age 79, passed peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her family on Saturday, January 15, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton, MI 48529; Fr. Bob McGraw celebrant. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 4-7 PM Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 10-11 AM Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed 7 PM Wednesday, January 19, 2022 under the auspices of the Daughters of Isabella Regina Coeli Circle Davison #1095 at Allen Funeral Home.
Sandy was born in Flint, MI on August 8, 1942, the daughter of the late William and Myrtle (Somers) Douglas. Sandy married the love of her life John Sherwood on July 2, 1960. She resided in Flint and then Davison for the last 50 years. Sandy graduated from Holy Redeemer in 1960. She enjoyed being a cheerleader for the Holy Redeemer Flyers High School Football and Basketball team. She was very active in her school and church and was a parishioner of Holy Redeemer. Sandy was also active in the Daughters of Isabella, the Council of Catholic Women, Altar Society and Flint Community Players. Sandy was devoted to her children and grandchildren and great grandchildren. You could always hear her voice through the crowd at a sporting event for all her kids. She loved life and could sew, crochet, bake and was an amazing cook. She would cook for everyone.
Surviving are her six children; son, Tony (Kathy) Sherwood; daughter, Midge (Bill) Heddy; daughter, Maria (Scott) Brown; daughter, Veronica (Scott) Johnson; daughter, Jaclyn (Chad) Adams; son, Alex (Amy) Sherwood; sixteen grandchildren, Amy Heddy, Jordan Johnson, Rachel Johnson, Gage Campbell, Hunter Campbell, Luke Maclean, Shane (Keyanna) Heddy, Logan Campbell, Carley (Shiva) Thokala, Maggie Sherwood, Ava Sherwood, Cameron Adams, Addi Sherwood, Bella Adams, Austin Sherwood and Caroline Adams; two great-grandchildren, Evelynn Campbell and Charlie Campbell; sister-in-law, Diane Pless; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Donna and Jonathon Spaude; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Sherwood; two grandchildren, Marty Heddy and Maryjane Heddy; her parents, Bill and Myrtle Douglas; sister, Ginger (Richard) Stork; brothers, Rev. William (Thelma) Douglas and Jim Douglas; parents-in-law, John and Marguerite “Jack and Marge” Sherwood and brother-in-law, Larry Pless.
