CHAPMAN, Douglas Hugh – Of Flint, age 73, died Monday, December 28, 2020 at Heartland Healthcare Center-Briarwood, surrounded by his loving family.
Private service will be held at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, MI 48507.
Cremation has taken place.
Those desiring may make contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project or Heartland Healthcare-Briarwood.
Due to Covid-19 and government regulations, only 25 people will be allowed in the chapel at one time. Mask, group capacity and distancing guidelines must be practiced.
Visitation 12–2p.m. Monday, January 4, 2021 at the Swartz Funeral Home.
Douglas was born in Flint, Michigan on December 4, 1947, the son of
William Hugh and Ruth (Williams) Chapman.
He graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1966.
Douglas served honorably in the U.S. National Guard.
On October 8, 1971 he married Sherry J. McIntosh at St. Mary’s in Mt. Morris, Michigan.
He worked at General Motors for 30 years and retired from Buick in 2002.
He enjoyed watching all sports, especially football. He was a Patriots fan and enjoyed boating. He loved family gatherings and was very supportive of his wife and son.
Surviving are wife, Sherry (McIntosh) Chapman;
son, Douglas Joel (DJ) Chapman;
daughter-in-law, Annette Chapman;
granddaughter, Tammy (Arthur) Scheel;
brothers, Mark Chapman and Craig (Stacy) Chapman;
sisters, Kay Newlon, Beth Chapman, Karen (Ron) Murphy, Janice (Aaron) Wiles and Kim (David) Quinn;
many nieces and nephews and special friends, Milan Glusica and Leroy and Barb Tankersley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Hugh and Ruth Chapman; sisters Corinne Chapman and Lorraine Trzil; brothers-in-law, Bill Newlon and John Trzil.
