Judy Anne Tanner of Goodrich Mich., age 77, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025, at Henry Ford Genesys Hospital, Grand Blanc, Mich., following a brief illness. Cremation has taken place. A celebration-of-life gathering will take place at a future date.
Judy was born in Ypsilanti, Mich., on May 27, 1948, daughter of Elmo “Al” Gratsch, Jr., and Ruth (Forsman) Gratsch.
She married Mark A. Tanner on Aug. 30, 1968, in Flint, Mich. Judy was the proud mother of two sons, Mark Tanner, Jr., and William Tanner.
Judy was a long-time Genesee County government employee. She first worked in the Register of Deeds Office and later at the county’s Pretrial Services Department. After retiring from the county, she joined senior leadership at New Paths, Inc., then a non-profit minimum-security correctional facility in Flint, Mich. She later became Executive Director of New Paths, a position she held until retiring in 2005. She earned a bachelor-of-science degree from the University of Michigan, Flint, and a masters’ degree in administration from Central Michigan University. She was an accomplished artist, working in various media, including water colors, acrylics, charcoal, and stained glass.
Judy is survived by her husband, Mark Tanner, son William Tanner and wife Amanda, daughter-in-law Timberly Tanner, grandchildren Rusty Tanner, Summer (Tanner) Sierra, Sarah Tanner-Morse, Alison Tanner, and Al Tanner; great grandchildren Jacob Tanner, Cali Morse, Warren Morse, Louisa Sierra, and other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and son Mark Tanner, Jr.
