GENTRY, Alkitt Lee - Age 70, of Burton, died Saturday December 12, 2020. Funeral service will be held 1PM Wednesday, December 16 at Great Lakes Baptist Temple 2112 E. Maple Rd. Flint. Visitation will be held 5-8PM Tuesday, at Sharp Funeral Home & Cremation Center 6063 Fenton Rd. Grand Blanc. Interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers those desiring may make contributions to Great Lakes Baptist Temple. Alkitt was born December 21, 1949 in Anderson, SC., the son of Leroy and Catherine (Grant) Gentry. He married Barbara Hulverson on October 12, 1984 in Fenton. Alkitt loved spending time with his grandchildren, enjoyed woodworking, and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Alkitt was a great cook and was known for his coconut cake and chocolate chip cookies that everyone enjoyed. He retired from Hogan Manufacturing after 25 years of service. Alkitt was a member and greeter for many years at Great Lakes Baptist Church. He "Loved the Lord". Alkitt is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Avery Gentry of South Carolina, Chad Orvis of Swartz Creek; grandchildren, Shelby (Tae) Gentry, Beau Gentry, Carson Orvis, Caden Orvis; great-grandson, Rylan; many nieces and nephews; special friend, Richard Smith.
