David Lee Kowalski, age 69, of Saginaw, our beloved Husband, Dad, Papa, Brother, Uncle and Friend passed away Sunday March 2, 2025, at his home surrounded by his family after a battle with cancer.
He was born on April 12, 1955, in Saginaw, son of the late Edwin and Marie (Greenburg) Kowalski. Dave was a 1973 graduate of Buena Vista High School. He was employed for forty year s at General Motors until his retirement in 2015. On May 25, 1974, he married the former Beverly Jones, the love of his life, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Saginaw. She survives him. Together, they raised 2 sons, David Jr. and Chad. They cherished each other and enjoyed doing many things together, including fishing, and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Dave had a lifelong passion for hunting and fishing, treasuring the outdoors. He was also a gardener, growing an abundance of produce he shared with all. He was a big baseball fan, especially of the Detroit Tigers, and enjoyed spending time watching games on TV in his recliner next to his wife Bev. Dave’s generosity extended well beyond his family, always offering a helping hand to friends and neighbors as well. Above all, Dave cherished his family. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and one of his greatest joys was being their biggest supporter. Whether cheering them on at sporting events, teaching them to hunt and fish, or simply sharing in whatever brought them happiness, Dave’s pride and love for his family knew no bounds.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Beverly, are their sons and their spouses; David (Heidi) Kowalski Jr and Chad (Angela) Kowalski, both of Saginaw; grandchildren, Nicole Kowalski, Jacob Kowalski, Ike Kowalski, and Burke Kowalski; siblings, Marilyn Porras, Christine Archambault, Mark (Marcia) Kowalski, Steven (Sue) Kowalski, and Rebecca (Mark) Babcock; sister-in-law Deva (James) Weber; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his in-laws, Frank and Dorothy Jones; sister, Mary Ann (Kowalski) Arnett, brother-in-law, Ralph Porras and nephews, Ralph N. Porras, Jason Archambault, and niece Amy Kowalski.
