SLISKO, Stephen J. - Age 90, of Swartz Creek, passed away January 23, 2024. Visitation will be held 2-6PM Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Miller Road Chapel, 8138 Miller Rd., Swartz Creek. Interment will take place at a later date at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to Area XIII Special Olympics. Stephen was born October 30, 1933 in Olyphant, PA, the son of Stephen and Agnes (Rosipko) Slisko and was a graduate of Mandeville High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the 82nd Airborne. Stephen earned his BA from Alma College and his MA from Central Michigan University. He taught at Ithaca High School for several years before moving to Swartz Creek Community Schools, where he spent the remainder of his career until his retirement in 1989. Stephen found great joy in helping others, he was always willing to lend a hand to any type of project. He enjoyed traveling, spending time outdoors and farming. He was full of knowledge on so many subjects and was a naturalist in many ways. He is survived by his wife, Beverly; beloved children, Becky Slisko and Stephen J. (Sheila) Slisko II; grandchildren, Mary (Dylan) and Eli; siblings, Joyce (Jim) Edwards, George (Connie) Thorne and Kathie Lindberg; sisters-in-law, MaryAnn Diebold and Susan Diebold; aunt, Joanne (Bernie) Schantz; many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Garth Thorne; sisters, Doris Howell, Elizabeth "Betty" Crowley, Janice Kato and Carol McMichael; brothers-in-law, Bill Diebold and Edward Diebold.
