Mary Ellen Pierce, age 88 of Flint died January 10, 2019 at her residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:30pm, Monday, January 14, 2019 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 609 E 5th Ave, Flint, MI. Family will receive visitors from 1:30pm, Monday and from 1-4pm Sunday afternoon at Dodds Dumanois Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 901 Garland St. Flint, MI. A 4pm Rosary will be prayed Sunday afternoon. Fr. T. Firestone officiating. Burial Tuesday 11am, in Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Novi, MI. Mary Ellen was born in Flint, MI the daughter of William and Mary (Murphy) Carr. She was joined in marriage to Benjamin Pierce September 9, 1950 at St. Michael's Catholic Church and had her reception at the Durant Hotel. She was a longtime member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and an active volunteer at the church. Mary Ellen ran for years the Christian Service Breakfast Program, brought Communion to the shut-ins, member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and once was the Irish Mother of the Year. She loved growing her plants, reading, live music and musicals and especially holidays with her family. Mary Ellen is survived by her 13 children; Ben(Terry), Mary Ann, Bill(Karen),Bob(Mary),Kate(Steve),Susan,Joan(Jim), Margaret, Trisha, John, Tim, Jen, Dave(Christina); 29 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, brothers Michael(Bernie), Jo(Angie), and Dave(Julie), and sister Marilyn, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her husband Benjamin in 1982, brothers Doug, Bill and sister Betty Anne. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Michael's Catholic Church. |
