Markland, Clyde H. of Flushing, age 86, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, February 25, 2014. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2014,at Calvary Christian Church, 7315 Corunna Rd., Swartz Creek. Pastor Michael Haines will officiate. Burial will follow at Flushing Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-4 and 6-9 p.m. Thursday at Rossell Funeral Home. A Masonic service under the auspices of Lodge #223 F & AM will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Christian Church.
Clyde was born in Elizabethton, TN, on May 4, 1927, the son of Charles and Bertha (Jordan) Markland. He married Betty Jane Colbaugh on June 28, 1954, in South Carolina. She preceded him in death on October 14, 2006. Clyde proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from Botsford General Hospital in Farmington Hills. Clyde was a former Deacon of Calvary Christian Church. He was a Life Member of the Flushing Masonic Lodge #223, F & AM where he served as Past Worshipful Master and was Past High Priest of Flint Rapids Chapter # 116 Royal Arch Masons of Michigan and was a Dad Advisor for Flushing DeMolay. Clyde was also a member of Flushing S.A.L.T.
He is survived by his children, Debra Markland of New Jersey, Lynn Markland of Durand, Lisa (James Maimone) Markland of New Jersey; granddaughters, Holly Baker of Swartz Creek, Jayna (Zack) Fielder of Virginia; great-grandchildren, Sunny, Roslynn, Hailey, Evan; several nieces and nephews. Clyde was also preceded in death by his parents and 11 brothers and sisters.
