GERHARDT, Lloyd Charles - Of Clio, age 74, passed away Friday, December 10, 2021 surrounded by his family.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10am Friday, December 17, 2021 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 2415 Bagley Street, Flint,
Father Thomas Firestone officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation 2-8pm Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Lloyd was born in Flint, Michigan on July 5, 1947, the son of the late Bernard and Elizabeth (Lynde) Gerhardt. He was one of nine children (Pat, Carol, Larry, Judy, Kathy, Peggy, Timothy, and Wendy) born to Bernard and Elizabeth Gerhardt. Lloyd served in the United States Army. Lloyd married Louise Iaquinto and was welcomed into her big Italian family. Lloyd worked for General Motors from 1965 to 1990 as a proud UAW member and finished his career as Financial Secretary for Local 581. After retiring from General Motors, he was appointed Chief Animal Control Officer for Genesee County. He served his community with this position from 1990 until his overall retirement in 2008. After retirement, Lloyd was able to enjoy his favorite pastimes: which included, being with family, friends, and grandkids, as well as golfing at Clio Country Club. Lloyd loved to lend a helping hand or care for anyone, whether it be his family, neighbors, or former coworkers. Lloyd and Louise appreciated spending the cold Michigan winters in the Florida sunshine by the water. He was an avid golfer, who enjoyed sunny days, and “final final”. Lloyd shared his love of golf with his grandchildren, who often requested golf cart rides around the neighborhood and now follow in his footsteps with the sport. He always spoiled his “sweethearts” who all preferred to visit at Papa and Nona’s house.
He is survived by his wife Louise, son Ryan (Helen), daughter Katie (Andrew) Sobol, and 6 grandchildren; Kelsey, Kayla, Kylie, Marisa, Cooper, and Alexis.
To continue the care that Lloyd gave to Louise, the family is asking for donations in lieu of flowers.
