Willowdean Mae Jensen, 95, a lifetime Lapeer area resident, died Friday, July 15, 2022.
Willowdean was born in Deerfield, Michigan on April 25, 1927, to Don and Mabel (Oriel) Ferrier. She graduated from North Branch High School, class of 1945. Willowdean married Walter A. Jensen on April 29, 1954 in Angola, Indiana. Her career at the Lapeer State Home (Oakdale) spanned over three decades – the majority of her years were spent as a surgical nurse and ultimately a physical therapist. She retired in 1980. Willowdean loved the kids at Oakdale and was very proud of her career. Above all Willowdean loved simple moments with her family – particularly grandchildren and great-grandbabies.
Willowdean is survived by her children: Jane (Tom) DuBois of North Branch and Walter (Faye) Jensen of Davisburg; grandchildren: Wayne (Camille) DuBois, Amy Lynch, Mike (Bobbie) Jensen, Michelle (John) Herron, Stacie Bosquez and Stephanie (Bob) Showler; nineteen great-grandchildren; seventeen great-great-grandchildren (& one more on the way); brother, James Ferrier. Willowdean is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walt Jensen; beloved great-grandson, Parker DuBois; brother, John Ferrier and her aforementioned parents.
Visitation will be 4-8PM Monday, July 18, 2022, and 2-4/6-8 Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. Willowdean’s funeral service will be held at 11:00AM Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Muir Brothers. Pastor Rodney Sanderson-Smith will officiate. Her family will receive friends from 1o-11AM the day of the service. Burial will immediately follow at West Deerfield Cemetery, North Branch.
