JOHNSON, Paul F. – of New Lothrop, age 87, died Monday, February 9, 2015 in Parma, Michigan. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM, Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the New Lothrop Church of the Nazarene, 7406 S. Saginaw St. in New Lothrop. Burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Pastor Paul Brashaw officiating. Family will receive visitors at the church on Friday from 3- 8 PM and Saturday from 10 AM until time of service.
Paul was born September 5, 1927 in Sumner, MI to the late Alfred and Marguerite (Hyde) Johnson. He resided in New Lothrop for more than 65 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in between WWII and the Korean War. Paul married Maxine Vernon on March 6, 1946 in New Lothrop. She preceded him in death on March 23, 2014. He was a self employed commercial building contractor for over 30 years. Paul was a very active member of the New Lothrop Church of the Nazarene, where he served on the Church Board both as trustee and church board secretary. He also served as a Sunday School teacher for the teens for 20 years, than he became Sunday School Superintendent. He also helped build the church building. Paul also served in the Board of Education for New Lothrop Public Schools as treasurer.
Surviving are: son, Wayne (Sue) Johnson; daughter, Joanne (Paul) Smith; grandchildren: Jeremiah Johnson, Heather Bissett, Tiffany Maurer, Cathy Hofflander, Julie Donihue; great grandchildren: Chelsey Hofflander, Ashley Hofflander, Amber Donihue, Allison Hofflander, Kaitlyn Donihue, Bethany Donihue, Tiffany Donihue, Caroline Hofflander, Evan Maurer, Addison Bissett; siblings: Donnavere Parks, June Freed, Carroll Johnson, Lester Keith Johnson and Alfred (Fred) Johnson; many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by brothers and sisters: Velma Dorony, Ruth Wells, Ida Loudenslager, Wesley Johnson and Margreta Hunt.
