FRANTA, Lewis A. – of Davison, MI, age 90, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 PM on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Interment will take place at St. John Catholic Cemetery following the Mass. The family will receive visitors 4-7 PM on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423 and 12-1 PM on Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lewis’ honor.
Lewis Franta was born on August 18, 1934, in Mansfield, Ohio, to John and Vivian (Conklin) Franta. On December 4, 1954, he married Jane Sumner in Angola, Indiana. Lewis proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and later worked as the Supervisor of City of Flint Street Maintenance, retiring after many years of dedicated service. He was also a member of the Genesee County Sheriff Posse. An avid outdoorsman, Lewis loved fishing, hunting, and working on his boats. He cherished spending winters in Lake Placid, Florida, and most of all, enjoyed the time spent with his large, loving family.
Lewis is survived by loving wife, Jane Franta; children: Bonnie (Greg) Butcher, Joe (Vicki) Franta, Karen (Wayne) Hendershott, Brenda (Ron) Dobis, Arlene Brown, and Ronda (Todd) Davis; 17 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by both parents, and son, Ronnie Franta.
