WHALEN, Norman of Davison, MI, age 61, passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2021. Cremation has taken place. Visitation is from 11:00am - 1:00pm with a celebration of life service, officiated by Pastor Janet Benjamin, from 1:00 - 2:00pm (service limited to 100 people) at Allen Funeral Home in Davison on Saturday, June 26. A procession for burial at Davison Cemetery will follow. In lieu of flowers, the Whalens are accepting charitable donations at http://thkfl.com/normwhalen.
Norm was born in Detroit, MI on June 2, 1960, son of LeRoy and Susan (Terry) Whalen. He married Kimberly Navarre on October 8, 1994 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Davison.
Norm enjoyed playing hockey and golf, and won a Hole-In-One contest two years in a row. He was a steadfast Michigan Wolverines fan and loved attending games at the Big House. Norm was a Disney enthusiast and eagerly planned the next family trip upon each winter’s descent. His friends remember him playing guitar and singing campfire songs up north. Frankfort, Traverse City, and Higgins Lake were favorite getaways. Norm supported his daughters, Cameron and Kelsey, through Tang Soo Do, seeing both of them reach the high accomplishment of black belt. Norm and Cameron participated in tai chi classes at the PKSA karate school. He loved listening to Alistair Begg, with his Scottish accent, share inspirational teachings during his daily radio program Truth For Life.
Norm is survived by his wife, Kim, daughters Cameron and Kelsey, mother Susan, brothers Dan (Becky) and Ed, sister Elaine (Scott) Beckelic, and ten nieces and nephews.
