MASTERSON, Steve Laughton - Of Flushing, age 74, died Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Covenant Healthcare in Saginaw,
A memorial service will be held 1pm Thursday, October 26, 2023
at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint,
Dr. Stephen Powers officiating.
Inurnment at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Visitation 11am Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post #64.
Steve was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee on April 29, 1949, the son of the late Wayland and Annis (Nave) Masterson. Steve honorably served his country in the United States Army serving in the Vietnam War as Sergeant E-5. He was also in the Civil Air Patrol. He was an accomplished salesman and was knowledgeable in many areas, a "Jack of all Trades" and was affectionally known as "MacGyver". Steve was an avid fisherman, who also enjoyed golf, chess, the Detroit Tigers and traveling. If he was at a casino, you would find him at a slot machine. Steve had a special place in his heart for his three dogs, Chipper, Coalie Bear, and his baby, Morgan. Above all else, he will be missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are wife, “his rock” Rhonda;
children, Charlene (Mike) Lavelle, Scottie Burns, Shea (Carrie) Masterson, Anthony (Hillary) Kitchin and Travis Masterson;
step-daughter, Rene Fernd;
grandchildren, Savanna (Jon), Michael, Mason, Elijah, Amanda, Hailey, Ryder and Maddox.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Lyons.
