WORVIE, Dale Edward – of Davison, MI, age 74, passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023. A Funeral Service will be held 12 PM Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; Sheila Rickman officiating. Interment, with Military Honors, 2 PM Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road, Holly, MI 48442. The family will receive visitors 4-7 PM Monday, July 31, 2023 and 11 AM-12 PM Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home. A Memorial Service, conducted under the auspices of VFW District 10 and the Lapeer County 40/8 Voiture 1536, will be held 7 PM Monday, July 31, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Veterans Esteem Team “Students helping Veterans and promoting Patriotism” and Wreaths Across America, in Dale’s memory.

Dale was born in Flint, MI on November 14, 1948, son of the late Arthur and Mary Evelyn (Collis) Worvie. He was a graduate of Davison High School Class of 1966. Dale proudly served his country in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1967-1968, where he was awarded 2 Purple Hearts and was a charter member of the Military Order Purple Heart USA. He married Carolynn King twice on August 24, 1994 in Las Vegas, Nevada and again on August 28, 1994 in Davison, MI. Dale retired from General Motors in 1991 after 30 years of service. Following retirement, Dale dedicated his life to various veterans related organizations. He was a member of Davison VFW 4087, American Legion 267, Oscoda Eagles 4237 and Lapeer County 40/8 Voiture 1536. Dale was VFW Commander from 1986-1987 and achieved his All-State Commanders White Hat. He was Commander of the VFW again from 2000-2002. Dale was also Chef de Gar for the 40/8 for 9 years. He served on the local, district and state honor guard. Dale enjoyed pulling a trailer full of Veterans in parades, bowling, working in his yard, participating in the Senior Winter Games where he was proud of his 3 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his yearly trip to Florida to visit his son and brother.

Dale is survived by his wife, Carol Worvie; 3 children, Brandy Worvie, Edward Worvie and Jennifer Franks; 3 stepsons, Christopher (Lisa) King, Billy (Krista) King and Stephen (Brittiny) King; 17 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 siblings, Larry (William) Worvie, Joyce (Ken) Jackson and Dennis (Debbie) Worvie; 2 nieces; 3 nephews; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mary Evelyn Worvie; sister, Marilyn Brandt and nephew, Steven Worvie.
