SOLDAN, Alton H. – of Flint, age 91, died Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Genesys Health Park. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Friday, January 3, 2014 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Rev. Eddie Phillips officiating. Burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park with military honors. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 10 AM until time of services. Contributions may be made to one’s choice of veteran’s organizations.
Alton was born October 11, 1922 in Flint to the late Ezra and Lottie Soldan. He lived in Flint his entire life. He served in the US Army during WW II and participated in the Normandy invasion. He married Vivian Hitt on August 31, 1946. She preceded him in death on April 20, 2000. Mr. Soldan retired from Buick in 1981 with 38 years seniority and was a member of the UAW Local #599. He was well known as a pitcher for local fast pitch softball teams in his younger years.
Surviving are: son, John (Joyce) Soldan of Clio; 2 granddaughters, Tina (Randy) Jubenville, Jennifer Long; 4 great grandchildren, Brittany, Bryce, Chelsea and Zachary; nieces and nephews.
