DUPLANTY, Joseph Edward Sr. – of Clio, age 85, died Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. The family will receive visitors on Monday, June 20, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
Joseph was born April 14, 1937 at home in Mt. Morris to the late Arthur and Blanche (DuBois) Duplanty. He grew up in Mt. Morris, Michigan and attended St. Mary’s Catholic School. On November 19, 1955 he married Nancy Titmus in Mt. Morris and she preceded him in death in 2017. Prior to his retirement in 1997, Joseph worked for GM as a Truck Repairman at the GMCCA Plant with 44 years of service. He was a graduate of the Evinrude Service School in 1955. Joseph was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Birch Run Moose Lodge # 2426, charter member of the Weidman Eagles Aerie # 4540, Auto City Eagles Aerie # 3485, Clio Eagles Aerie # 3609, and was past president of them both. He received the Father and Grandfather of the year from the Eagles. Joseph was a Past President of the UAW Local 659, and was appointed to the UAW International Union in 1995. He was an elected representative for 43 years. Joseph received the Walter P. Reuther award which is the highest award from the UAW International Union. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed playing euchre, the lottery and going hunting with his sons. Traveling with his family to the Florida Keys and to their cabin at Lake Isabella was one of his favorite things to do. Joseph was always on the younger generation to get educated and buy American. The family would like to give a special “Thank You” to Scott (Dana) VanAlst, Dr. Ahmad Abdel-Halim and the Absolute Hospice.
Surviving are: Children, Renie (Larry) Griswold, Debbie (John) Crongeyer, Kathy (David) Ford, Joseph E. (Camey) Duplanty Jr., Tim (Laurie) Duplanty, Cheryl Brouillet, Tom Duplanty and girlfriend Michelle; 18 Grandchildren; 28 Great Grandchildren; Dog, Gus; Special Friend, Jerry Underwood.
