For those that were blessed to spend any time with David, knew he was a very social person – as in always the life of the party. His smile was contagious and lit up the room! Man, he could be such a goofball…and we loved him dearly for it! Shortly after graduating from Lake Fenton High School, he entered the United States Air Force. David loved being a part of the Air Force mission and had great PRIDE serving his country! Better yet he was great at it, if you had a problem David was the Airmen you needed to talk to! He received multiple awards & medals and deployed numerous times. During his time as an ROTC instructor, he loved the fact he was able to guide and mentor future Air Force Leaders.
When he was not serving his country David pursued his passions and hobbies. As a child David found a love for comics when his grandfather Donald Stebbins would take him to the local comic shop in Burton Michigan almost weekly. His love of comics and adventure continued as an adult and morphed into his love of Warhammer. Now, for those that don’t know what Warhammer is, let me explain a little for you. David built and painted miniature figures, then played large scale war games…think of the game Risk, but on a larger scale. David also had an adventurous side, he loved being out in the wilderness and hunting big game animals. While stationed in Alaska, he went on numerous hunts where he had the opportunity to get a Black bear, a Moose, a few Grizzly Bears and of course a few smaller game animals like Cariboo and Porcupine. David loved the thought that while on any his hunts above the Artic Circle, he may have been the only person to have ever walked on that piece of Earth.
Above it all, David was a family man at heart! He came from a big loving family and wanted a family of his own. Shortly after joining the United States Air Force, he met his redhaired, green eyed girl of his dreams and within a month of meeting they got married. They traveled together, deployed at different times, moved across the country back and forth between Oklahoma and Alaska a couple times. During their first tour in Alaska, David and his wife decided it was time to grow their family of two to four. David first became a father in Jan 2010 when his daughter Kaila was born, the joy, compassion and love in his eyes was beyond words.
Not to long after his daughter was born, David’s life was forever changed again when his son David E. was born in Mar 2011. Again, words cannot express the overwhelming joy, love, compassion, and happiness that filled David’s world! Now finally David’s dream of having his own family was complete!
David was an amazing father, loving husband, and friend, he filled our lives with love, laughter, and the thrill of adventure. He will be forever missed and live on in our memories.
