Klco, Rita I. – of Chesaning died Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Chesaning Comfort Care. She was 100 years of age.
Rita was born in Chesaning on May 2, 1923, a daughter of the late Nicolas and Cecelia (Gengler) Wenzlick. She had lived in the Chesaning area her entire life. She was united in marriage to John Klco. He preceded her in death of January 12, 1994.
Rita owned and operated the former Peggy Sue’s Dress Shop in Chesaning. She was a longtime member of St. Peter Parish Catholic Church in Chesaning. Mrs. Klco was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and served as a Regent for several years. She was a member of the Chesaning Historical Society.
Rita is survived by her five children, Gary (Sharon) Klco of Nebraska, Judie (Louie) Giesken of Chesaning, Alan (Marilyn) Klco of Frankenmuth, Dale Klco of North Carolina, and Beth (Robert) Shelor of Virginia; fifteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; a sister-in-law, Betty Wenzlick of Flint; many nieces and nephews; and other loving family and friends. She was preceded in death by her eight siblings, Harold Wenzlick, Virginia Kligar, Art Wenzlick, Don Wenzlick, Jim Wenzlick, Mary Lou Kligar, Dorothy King, and Franny Wenzlick.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:30 p.m. Friday, January 26, 2024, at St. Peter Parish Catholic Church in Chesaning with Fr. Raj Bandaru officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Chesaning. Visitation will be 2-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home where a Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. There will be visitation at the church on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass.
