CARMER, Charles R. “Chuck” – of Clio, age 78, went home to be with his Lord, Thursday, January 28, 2021 at McLaren Flint. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at New Beginnings Missionary Church (2232 E. Mt. Morris Rd. Mt. Morris, MI). The family will receive visitors at the church from 12 PM until the time of the service. Please practice social distancing and please wear a mask. Memorial contributions may be considered to either New Beginnings Missionary Church or Genesys Hurley Cancer Institute.

Charles was born November 17, 1942, in Holly, Michigan to the late Earl and Selena (Rusau) Carmer. He was raised in Fenton and graduated from Fenton High School in 1960. He later attended Mott Community College in Flint. He married Donna Anspach June 1, 1963 and she sadly passed on November 21, 2009. On October 10, 2015 he married Linda Christopher in Mt. Morris at New Beginnings Missionary Church. He was employed for 23 years as a dedicated Police Officer with the City of Flint. He later became a Liaison Officer and was part of the Bomb Squad. Charles was a devout Christian and was a Charter Member of New Beginnings Missionary Church where he served as an usher for many years. Chuck worked for a few years as a Genesee County Park Ranger; was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA). He was a skilled in woodworking and was a wonderful cook. Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, and the time he was able to spend with his family. He was a wonderful caregiver, taking care of his wife and daughters when they were ill. Charles was also a gifted writer, having a book published recently about his life. He was known as a Gentle Giant and was a wonderful role model for others to live by. He was dearly loved and be truly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are: Wife, Linda; Children: Scott (Kim) Carmer of Burton, Jennifer Blackledge of Clio, Jeremy (Christine) Fitch of Millington and Christopher (Amy) Fitch of Mattawan; Grandchildren: Chelle, David, Arin, Landon, Jasmin, Jessica, Allison, Amber, Brooke, Curtis, Isaac, Erin, Lyndsay, Anthony, Mike, Jordan, Shane, Ethan and Ryan; Great Grandchildren: Zaine and Jason; Fur Babies: Peek-a-boo and Minnie Pearl; Many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his first wife Donna, daughter Laura Yaklin, son in law Steve Yaklin, parents Earl and Selena Carmer, granddaughter Danielle Fitch and brother Clifford Carmer.
