COURNEYA, Robert Thomas – of Manistee, MI, age 87, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2021. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 12 PM Thursday, January 6, 2022, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Interment immediately following the Mass in St. John Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 4-7 PM Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 11 AM-12 PM Thursday, January 6, 2022, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed 6 PM Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, in Bob’s memory.
Bob was born in Flint, MI on December 22, 1934, son of the late Paul and Minnie (Gibson) Courneya. He married Charlotte Trivette on May 8, 1954, and she preceded him in death on April 29, 2013. Bob proudly served our country in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1953-1959. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1990 after more than 30 years of service. Bob was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. He enjoyed woodworking, camping and dancing.
Bob is survived by son, Tom (Rhonda) Courneya, daughter-in-law, Paula Courneya, son, Tim Courneya, son, Jeff (Sandy) Courneya, son, Bill (Lori) Courneya, daughter, Sue Elizondo and daughter, Diana (Jeff) Thompson; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Jr. (Peggy) Courneya; pet cockatoo, Baby; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Minnie Courneya; wife, Charlotte Courneya; daughter, Bev Courneya; son, Rick Courneya; sister, Rose Marie Pfeiffer; 2 daughters-in-law, Christie Courneya and Michele Courneya.
