ALBURTUS, Howard “Butch” Lewis – of Prudenville, MI, formerly of Davison, MI, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. A Funeral Liturgy will be held 12 PM Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski officiating. Cremation will take place following the Liturgy. The family will receive visitors 4-7 PM Monday, June 26, 2023 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 11 AM-12 PM Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in Howard’s memory.
Howard was born in Flint, MI on March 6, 1945, son of the late Howard “Red” and Viola Alburtus. He married Sheri Kay McNicol on May 2, 1970 in Davison, MI. Howard retired from Operating Engineers Local #324 in 2001 after 34 years of service. He enjoyed retirement at their home on Lake James in Prudenville, MI and winters in Gulf Shores, AL. Howard loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed his extended family at White Deer Golf Course in Prudenville, MI, golfing, hunting, fishing, telling jokes and was an amateur treasure hunter.
Howard is survived by his loving wife, Sheri; 2 children, Dawn and Ron (Debbie); 4 grandchildren, Allyssa (Jake), Kyle, Haleigh (Jon) and Kaitlyn (Travis); 3 great-grandchildren, London, Carson and Breck; sister, Frances; 2 sisters-in-law, Kathy and Debby; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard “Red” and Viola Alburtus; 3 siblings, Harold, Mary and Sandi; several other loving family members.
The family would like to extend a very sincere thank you to Mike and Deb Kiesel, Bob and Carole Schuppe, and the nurses and staff of Heartland Home Health and King Nursing Center for their loving and compassionate care of Howard.
