BAIRD, Violet Ruth - age 91, of Fenton, died December 24, 2020. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 W. Silver Lake Rd., Fenton, MI 48430. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-9 PM Monday and 9 AM - 2 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Fenton First Presbyterian Church or Ascension Hospice. Violet was born February 17, 1929 in Fenton, the daughter of Roy William and Helen Lucille (Jarvis) Thornton. She was a graduate of Fenton High School Class of 1947 and married Harold Bert Baird on May 22, 1948. He preceded her in death on November 6. 2007. Surviving are: children, Leslie (Deanna) Baird, Ruth Ann Baird, Roy (Susan) Baird, Jeffrey (Melodie) Baird, Laura (Doug) Hecox, James (Lynn) Baird, and John Whaley; 26 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; brother, David Thornton; two sisters, Helen Compeau and Vera Thornton; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Whaley; 2 sisters, Marjorie, Mary Sue; and two brothers, Charles and Clyde.
