DURGA, Daniel J., Sr. - Of Flint, age 67, died Friday, December 27, 2013 at Gentiva Hospice.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Doug Klein officiating.
Burial at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to For-Mar Nature Preserve.
Visitation 3-8 p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m. Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Daniel was born in Traverse City, Michigan on October 7, 1946,
son of the late Joseph and Evelyn (Nelson) Durga.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy.
On January 11, 1969 he married Gina Markee in Mt. Morris.
Dan was an avid antique padlock collector. He was a member of the American Lock Collectors Association and the West Coast Lock Collectors Association.
He loved For-Mar Nature Preserve and donated on a regular basis becoming a "Friend of For-Mar."
Surviving are wife, Gina;
son, Daniel J. Durga, Jr. and wife Kendra;
daughter, Amy and husband Matthew;
grandchildren, Vivian Anderson, Caleb, Cora, Cate and Jayden Durga;
sisters, Kay Williams and her son, Joey,
Linda and husband Mike Ackerman;
brother, Roger and wife Betti Durga;
many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Douglas Durga, Elgin Durga, Ed Durga and sister, Edna Stiehl.
