ANDERSON, Wayne Roger of Otter Lake, Michigan, age 76, passed away Friday, February 18, 2022 at McLaren-Lapeer.
Funeral service will be held 1pm Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Reverend Michael Brown officiating.
Visitation 6-8pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Detroit Tigers Foundation, Special Olympics or the Oxford Memorial Foundation.
Wayne was born in Flint, Michigan on July 3, 1945 to Earl and Elizabeth (Bridges) Anderson at Hurley Hospital. He attended Southwestern High School, where he ran long distance track, and graduated in June, 1964. Wayne later met and married Marcia Dorton on October 7, 1966. They later had Tara. Wayne worked at Casper Tool and Die and then worked until retirement at General Motors. He was a proud member of the UAW. Wayne was a founding member of Harvest Time Tabernacle and then attended South Flint Tabernacle until he was no longer able. He was a huge sports fan but especially loved the Detroit Tigers. Wayne could quote stats from as far back as he could remember. He also loved to go bowling and to watch other people bowl. He loved the Lord and he loved the Lord's people, and did not know a stranger.
Surviving are daughter, Tara Anderson and grandson, David Anderson, who was also his caregiver;
sister, Earlynn Fry;
nephews, Keith, and Mathew (Sonia) Fry, Mark Anderson and Terry Anderson;
special friends, Jeff Walker, Micheal and Cindy Brown, and Ray Brown.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marcia, mother and father, Earl and Elizabeth, sister, Patricia Anderson, brother, Benny Anderson, nephew, Roger Anderson, and many other loved ones and friends.
