Hodgins, John J. – of Vassar, formerly of Clio, age 91, passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at Covenant Healthcare in Saginaw. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM, Monday, December 27, 2021, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Darrell Manning will officiate. Burial to follow in Flint Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday from 10 AM until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Vets (DAV).
John was born February 1, 1930, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Frank and Grace (VanHouten) Hodgins. He graduated from Flint Central High School in 1948. John married Patsyann Carmode on June 6, 1953, in Mineral Wells, Texas. She preceded him in death on July 2, 2019. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from General Motors with 32 years of service. John was a member of the Gordon R. Bennett VFW Post 1452 of Clio. He was also a member of the Independent Order of the Foresters. He was a “Jack of all trades,” and enjoyed building houses, traveling, going on adventures, and staying busy.
Surviving are: 4 children: Michael (Trish) Hodgins, Paula (Terry) Everman, Richard Hodgins, and Todd (Kathleen) Hodgins; Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Brother-in-law, Jack (Cathy) Carmode; Sister-in-law, Jeannine Ward. He was preceded in death by; Sister-in-law, Marjorie Baker, Mother-in-law, Frances Carmode, Brothers: Theodore, Donald, baby Frank, Charles, Frank; Sisters: Margret and Grace.
