John Lyman Bostater, known affectionately as Jack to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2024, in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Born on September 17, 1935, in Flint, Michigan, Jack lived a full and vibrant life characterized by his loving nature, selflessness, and markable handiness.

Jack's early life in Flint laid the foundation for a man who would later be known as a "Jack of all trades." His parents, Walter and Helen (Turner) Bostater, instilled in him the values of hard work and dedication. Though he was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his siblings Bud, Sylvia, and David, and his beloved grandson Nick, Jack's legacy continues through his cherished family.

In 1954, Jack married the love of his life, Barbara King, in a beautiful ceremony in Flint. Their partnership was one of mutual respect and boundless affection, and together they raised two wonderful children, Brad (Sue) Bostater, and Lori Bostater. Jack was a proud brother to Ozzie (Pat) Osborn. The joy of his family grew with the arrival of his grandsons Nick Bostater, Patrick Bostater, and great-grandchild, Skylar, who all brought immense happiness and pride to his later years.

Professionally, Jack was a respected member of his community, known for his commitment and integrity. He was a dedicated member of the Davison Country Club and Brookwood Golf Course, where he not only honed his golfing skills but also formed lasting friendships. His faith was an important aspect of his life, and he was an active member of St. John Catholic Church in Davison, where he served with humility and grace.

An avid golfer and fisherman, Jack found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His ability to fix and create with his hands was unparalleled, and his woodworking skills were admired by all who had the privilege to witness his craft. Jack's home was a testament to his talent, filled with pieces that told stories of his dedication and creativity.

Jack's love for a good card game was only matched by his love for his family and friends. He was always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a word of advice, and his generosity knew no bounds. Jack's presence was a source of comfort and strength to those around him, and his willingness to help and do anything for anybody made him a pillar in the lives of many.

Described as loving, selfless, and handy, Jack's impact on the world was profound and lasting. His warm smile, hearty laugh, and the twinkle in his eye will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Jack’s Life will be held at later date. Arrangements entrusted to Jansen Family Funeral Home - Columbiaville. Share memories, condolences, and pictures with the family at www.jansenfuneralhome.com.
