PASTERNAK, Ann – Of Flint, age 98, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2018.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2018 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Tom Mattiuzzo officiating.
Burial in Davison Cemetery.
Those desiring may make contributions to the charity of their choice.
Visitation 11 a.m. Monday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Ann was born in Thetford Township, Michigan on December 16, 1919, the daughter of Jacob and Vera Pasternak.
Ann was a graduate of North Central University in Minneapolis, Minnesota and served with her sister, Jennie in Mission work in NY where they assisted Hungarian immigrants by placing them in jobs and housing and translating through Ellis Island.
Ann was employed by GISD as a special education teacher, retiring in 1983. Ann was also instrumental in training new teacher rot he program. Ann also worked evenings and weekends at The Vogue for many years and appreciated the warm friendship she shared with Mike and Kay Melet.
Ann loved fishing and gardening; she was awarded a plaque commemorating her accomplishments of beautification of beautification of her neighborhood and he declared April 18, 1983, as Ann Pasternak Day.
Ann loved the Lord and loved to share with everyone she met. She has touched many lives within the community for many years.
Surviving are nieces and nephews, Janis Thompson, Lois (Lance) Garrett,
David (Jo-Ann) McCann,
Barbara McCann and Ken;
Ann is also survived by 4 generations of great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Vera; sisters, Vera Bayusz, Margaret Edward, Elizabeth Coon, Jennie Pasternak, Mary McCann; brother, Johnny Pasternak; brothers-in-law, Joy Bayusz, John Coon, Leo Edwards, Jerry Thompson and Don McCann; niece, Geraldine Edwards; nephews, Robert Edwards and Robert Edwards Jr.
The family would like to acknowledge special friends, Ruth Morris, Shike Stoble, Sharon Vanderford and a very special thank you to Dr. Peddireddy and staff for the years of devoted service.
