Ms. Barbara Jean Carpenter, age 83, passed away January 6, 2022 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral will be private for family only. Public visitation will be held from 12 noon -5pm, Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Dodds Dumanois Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 901 Garland St. Flint, MI. Barbara was born March 11, 1938 the daughter of Robert (Mr. C.) and Mildred (Wright) Carpenter. Barbara, as she was known to friends, was a beloved member of the Red Hatters Club, in her pastime, she often liked to read. Although a lover of her reading she also enjoyed putting together Jigsaw puzzles. Barbara was employed by Hurley Hospital and retired from AC Spark Plug. She was a longtime member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Her passion for serving led her to do monumental things in this life. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her close friends Liz Osborne, Pauline Richmond, Eva Perkins, and Alma Carter. Although Barbara's death was sudden, few people knew the extent to which she struggled. Her joy for life was her children, grand and great grandchildren and her determined spirit kept her pushing through. Barbara wanted her works to speak for her through the gates. She had love for her dogs, there were many, but one in particular was "Pooky". Barbara is survived by her daughters Tynetta Carpenter of Flint, MI, Deirdre Box of Arizona, son Keith (Carolyn) Carpenter of Flint, she also leaves to mourn her are her living siblings Mildred Kilgor of Las Vegas, NV, Robert Carpenter of Seattle, WA, John (Jennie) Carpenter of Riverside, CA, Carol (Craig) James of Spring, TX, Phyllis (Mitch) Ferguson of Chesaning, MI, and Joan Fisher Brown of TX, 13 loving grandchildren, many great grandchildren and her extended family and friends that will miss her dearly. Barbara was preceded in death by her son Benjamin, parents Robert and Mildred Carpenter, grandson DeShawn Carpenter, and sister Hazel Ballard. |
