HENRY, Mrs. Esther Lucille-age 86 passed away Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 12 noon Friday, February, 14, 2014 with 11:00 a.m. family hour at True Gospel Baptist Church 5390 Fairhaven St. Flint, MI 48505. Pastor Malik Shabazz officiating. The final resting place for Mrs. Henry will be River Rest Cemetery. Calling hours are 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Thursday, February 13, 20014 at Serenity Funeral Chapel.
Mrs. Esther Lucille Henry was born December 17, 1927 in Chicago, IL the daughter of Mr. Claude Scott and Mrs. Erma Scott.
Mrs. Esther was raised in White Cloud, Michigan where she graduated from White Cloud High School. Esther later moved to Flint where she met and married Mr. Clarence Ross Henry. Esther was a housewife and hard working loving mother. She was later employed at Captain Mack's and Fresh Appeal Restaurant as a waitress. Esther's favorite pastimes were catching the bus to the mall to shop, road trips, watching her soap operas and game shows, but most of all she loved taking care of her grandchildren. Esther accepted God at a young age, and later joined True Gospel Baptist Church.
Mrs. Esther Lucille Henry leaves to cherish her memory: 3 beloved children, Andre Henry, Marcus Henry and Victoria Hardy all of Flint, MI; 9 grandchildren, Dywan Henry of Flint, MI, Seneca Jenkins of Tampa, Fl, Deonta Jenkins of Washington, DC, Shaquitta Randolph of Flint, MI, Crystal Henry of Flint, MI, Brandy Henry of Pontiac, MI, Andrea Jenkins of Washington, DC, Micheal Coleman of FL, and Schenta Roberson of Houston, TX; 3 sisters, Mary Milton of Grand Rapids, MI, Genevieve Johnson of Chicago, IL and Naomi Goldston of White Cloud, MI; 2 brothers, Rudolph Scott of Detroit, MI and Cecil Jackson of Chicago, IL; 8 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews including special niece, Bessie Short. Esther was looked at as a mother by many including special daughter, Charlotte Randolph.
Mrs. Esther Lucille Henry was preceded in death by: husband, Mr. Clarence Ross Henry; daughter, Mrs. Candy Henry Garza; parents, Claude Scott, Sr. and Erma Scott; 2 brothers, Mr. Claude Scott, Jr. and Paul Scott and sister, Emma Scott.
The family would like to express special thanks to Hurley Medical Center 4th floor, ICU doctors and nurses, extra-special thanks to Darlene, Hope, Pastor Malik Shabazz, Mr. Sheldon Banks and the staff of Serenity Funeral Chapel.
