BROWN, Ilene M. – Of Swartz Creek, age 85, died Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Bob Nolan officiating.
Burial in Crestwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to New Road Baptist Church.
Visitation 4-7 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Ilene was born in Beaver, Pennsylvania on July 7, 1934, the daughter of Oscar and Lily (Miller) Johnson.
Mrs. Brown was a Michigan resident the majority of her life.
She earned a Bachelor's Degree and taught school for nine years at Saginaw Business Institute before marrying Samuel Brown on September 1, 1967 and starting her family.
She was a member of New Road Baptist Church.
Ilene loved her family, God and church; and enjoyed Wednesday morning coffee and doughnuts at Holiday Shores Campground.
She was a softball player at short stop and 3rd base. Ilene enjoyed her English bone China collection and was a fan of the Detroit Tigers, Pistons and Lions.
Surviving are her husband, Samuel;
sons, Brad (Sarah) Brown and Mark (Char) Brown;
3 grandchildren, Lily, Emily and Brady;
sister-in-law, Shirley.
She was preceded in death by her parents and both brothers.
